Hola! My name is Maria Hamilton. I was born and raised in Bloomington, graduated from BHSN and completed both my B.A. in Spanish and Master’s of Public Affairs (Comparative and International Affairs) from IU. I am married to Jason Hamilton and have four children (Raquel 24, Isabel and Alejandra 23, and Antonio 17), all of whom attended St. Charles. I have served twice as the long-term substitute Spanish teacher at St. Charles and was the head cross country and track and field coach from 2008-2016. I am also a certified fitness professional who teaches exercise classes at the YMCA. My mother was a native of Mexico and my father a Spanish professor at IU, so Spanish was my first language and spoken exclusively at home. Also, I have lived and traveled in Mexico, Spain and other parts of Europe. Over the years, English has become my dominant language, but I am still fluent in Spanish. I am very excited to share my love of languages and cultures with the students!
