8th Grade Religion

This year the students will focus on the topic, "Our Life in the Church". Students will learn everything from why and how Christ founded the Church, understand the meaning behind the words of our Creed, and most importantly learn their role in the Church. It is my hope that students will graduate from St. Charles with a deep understanding and love for the Catholic faith and the Church as well as a desire to fulfill the role Christ has for each one of them within the Church!

Curriculum

This year St. Charles adopted the Faith and Life catechetical series published by Ignatius Press. The 8th Grade textbook is title: Our Life in the Church. One great addition to this series is a family guide to go along with each chapter. This helps parents stay informed and involved in what their children are learning each day.

Miracle Monday

Miracles happen everyday, it's up to us to notice God presence and mercy through both the big and small miracles He performs on a daily basis. In order to celebrate God's overwhelming presence in our lives, every Monday I will share a miracle with the class before starting the days lesson.

Mass and Confession

At St. Charles we are blessed to have daily Mass once a week every Wednesday morning. We also take turns participating in the Mass by reading or bringing up the gifts. In addition, about every 6 weeks students are given the opportunity to go to confession during their Religion period.

Saint Paper

Students will read a small book averaging about 100 pages, provided by the school. They will have a choice between many different saints specifically the saint they may want as their confirmation saint. Once the students have learned about their saint's life, they will write a paper on the life, virtue, and inspirations of that saint.
